LEUCHTTURM1917 Drehgriffel Mechanical Pencil Rising Sun
This pencil is the winner of the coveted Red Dot Design Award for 2022. The Red Dot Design Award is one of the leading and most prestigious design competitions in the world, and the Red Dot Label is regarded as an international quality seal for outstanding design. Bestowed by an expert jury, the famous prize is awarded to products that feature outstanding design. The jury is made up of big-name designers and design experts from around the world - they decide independently which products receive a Red Dot Award.
The Drehgriffel was originally created by Leuchtturm1917 for Monocle as a ballpoint pen. The design is distinctly retro, because it's a revival of a writing instrument that was around in the 1920s. The ballpoint looked more like a mechanical pencil than a pen, but now there's a pencil too!
'Drehgriffel' means 'twist stylus'. The hexagonal barrel is precision-milled aluminium and brass. The barrel end employs a spring-loaded twist mechanism to extend the lead. Unlike the Drehgriffel pens though, the fine tip is made from steel.
Available with a 0.7mm tip.
